LENS ON TALENT-THE BIRTH OF A CLUBSTAR

THE BIRTH OF A CLUBSTAR

Since music is food for the soul, today my plate is a delicious mix of “Merry go round” a groovy techno rap song laced with typical juju feel powered by no other than the inimitable CLUBSTAR- Chibu Agbasimalor , a fresh face in the rap game. Not everyone makes an excellent first impression, but Clubstar has a great career ahead of him. A clubstar track is like a good joke, you have to share it.

UNVEILING THE CLUBSTAR

Chibu Agbasimalor is a dude in love with rap, who had to resign his lucrative paying job as a banker to further focus on his undying love for music.” I couldn’t stay there anymore, I had done everything in my department, I was getting bored and felt like time was tickitng away. I then took the decision to resign so I can pay more attention to my music”

Influences

“I have many influences but I have been mostly influence by Jayz, Kanye West, and DMX.”

INSPIRATION

“Harsh realities of being a Nigerian, art, poetry, inspire me at any time”

Long walk to fame land

The graduate of Nnamdi Azikwe University has B.SC in Bio-Technology and has been doing music for fourteen years.

“When I was secondary school at Ijanikin, I used to perform for students in my dorm. I have been doing music since I was a teenager”.

MERRY GO ROUND

Clubstar knows how to make you want to get up and dance. The beat of this song sure takes you to the dance floor, till you say play-on! With his sexy polished voice texture, he delivers his lines with the ease of a don. Oh! I can’t forget this lines-‘they call me Clubstar like am a rockstar ,get yourself in motion, drift like a ocean, this is intentional, move like a professional.” Love it!

So that is music served with plenty of spice, groove that will make you move.

Clubstar is perked up for the top, and success has been a longtime coming for this dexterous lyricist, he is made for the top.

STANDING TALL TO GREATNESS

STANDING TALL TO GREATNESS

‘The trouble with Nigeria is simply and squarely a failure of leadership’.Wrote the cerebral Professor Chinua Achebe in his 1984 treatise ,the Trouble with Nigeria. As a young Nigerian , I strongly believe leadership is the ability to influence people towards achieving worth while goals, and I am always turning my searchlight on young Nigerians who are leading lights in various walks of life. Every once in a while , destiny sends humanity some men and women who can only be defined a s phenomenal. Henry Aderigbe is one of that species of human beings.Henry Aderigbe 27, is the CEO of Kabiyesi clothings, a bespoke clothing line based in Ibadan .As a fashion designer, he specializes in the making of suits, blazers, shirts, kaftans , gowns and branded tee shirts.

STANDING TALL IN THE MIDST OF ADVERSITY

Henry attended The Federal polytechnic Offa. His business was birthed when he started having issues with clothes of his size, which is as a result of his unique height-6feets tall. This challenge inspired Henry to start designing clothes for himself and he often gave his designs to tailors who convert the concept into beautiful outfits for people to behold. Presently, Henry is a fast rising fashion entrepreneur , helping individuals to create an indelible image.

ON STARTING SMALL

It is being said that every oak tree grows from a mustard seed. In his words”:I started with no capital , I only partnered with a tailor who makes excellent clothes. I started publicising my brand through word of mouth, and today our clientele base is growing and fast expanding.’’Though he is starting small, he has what it takes to become the David who will defeat Goliath in the battle field.

CHALLENGES

‘’I was faced with two adverse challenges, number one convincing clients to choose our designs over other known brands, and secondly clients owing us money. But over time we have been able to surmount these challenges by being committed to churning out excellent outfits.’’

ROLEMODELS

A Chinese proverb says:’To know the road ahead, ask those coming back’. Henry ‘s role models are Fela durotoye, whom he learnt from the virtue of taking personal responsibility and not making excuses, and also Basket mouth, for his immense contribution to the craft of comedy, bringing in class and creativity.

GUIDING PHILOSOPHY

‘’My guiding philosophy is this:’’Life will offer unto you , whatever you ask from it.If you don’t ask, you can never get.’’

Henry has a calling, or more appropriately several callings. He is not just a fashion entrepreneur , but also doubles as a comedian and emcee, and Nigeria is lucky that he has decided to answer them all.We are richer for it.To say that greater things are expected of him is to state the obvious.According to Wheeler Wilcox:’

Upon the wreckage of thy yesterday

Design thy structure of tomorrow. Lay

Strong corner stones of purpose, and prepare

Great blocks of wisdom cut from past despair.

Shape mighty pillars of resolve

To set deep in the tear wet mortar of regret.

Work on with patience.Though thy toil be slow

Yet day by day the edifice shall grow

Believe in God, in thy own self believe

All that thou hath hope for, thou shalt achieve.

EPITOME OF ENTERPRISE

EPITOME OF ENTERPRISE
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man how to fish, and he eats for a lifetime. This aphorism captures the essence and the core of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs are the life wire of a nation’s economy because they create opportunities for others by creating job openings and also help create wealth for the country. There is a global consensus that young people are the greatest asset any nation can rely on for meaningful development. The underdevelopment of this demographic portends danger for the nation’s wellbeing.

National governments the world over are striving to achieve the United Nation’s millennium development goal(MDG) of making poverty history by 2015.But poverty cannot be eradicated if the monster of unemployment is not dealth with.Kehinde Olagbenjo is a purpose driven young Nigerian entrepreneur who is breaking barriers , and making his diamonds out of clay. He is the Principal facilitator of LEAD BUSINESS SCHOOL an enterprise development outfit dedicated to developing and raising entrepreneurs, and he also doubles as the CEO of 3m-int’l , a strategic human empowerment outfit geared towards providing excellent services in enterprise development, youth advocacy, and book publishing. He is saying no to the idea of being a burden to anyone and believes that young Nigerians must begin to take personal initiative for their destinies.

Kenny, as he is often called by his colleagues is the author of :’YOU DON’T HAVE TO BELIEVE IN MY DREAM’ a motivational book that encourages individuals to dream again inspite of their backgrounds and make their life a masterpiece for humanity to behold. He says: ‘Its no longer about you being a B.sc holder alone, its about embracing entrepreneurship and adding value to the lives of others’. Entrepreneurs are today seen as the catalyst that speeds up the process of creating wealth for the economy. Through his project 50,000 entrepreneurs , Kenny and other youth focused organizations are committed to raising and equipping entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs with the tools and the capacity they need to thrive in their enterprise. This project will create the platform for entrepreneurs with business ideas to flaunt their ideas to business investors and astute entrepreneurs, who will be willing to partner with them .

In the words of Richard Branson:’Business opportunities are like buses , there is always another one coming. ‘The best time to plant a tree was twenty five years ago, the next best time is now.The greatest sorrow in life is the sorrow of regret.Don’t look back at your life and regret at the things you hoped for , but never attempted. I will read your own success story!
