JOURNEY TO MUSIC VILLE
‘I have always been a Music person ever since i was young. Its hard to see me without a radio or anything that plays or emits music. I usually to walk around with all those small radios whenever there wasnt light and ever since then it was clear i was a Music Addict.I used to use my own words to fill in the gaps of songs i didnt know well.Overtime, rap came into the story.I started studying rap greats and I realize I could mime their songs.Today, I write my own lyrics and gradually climbing remarkably to the top.’
SONGS YOU’VE DONE
‘I dropped a motivational single on the 1st of january 2012 titled "Good Morning" to put my fans on a positive note on a daily basis and to provide the world with a song to uplift the spirits of the people, because encouragement is oxygen to the soul. YOUR VISIBILITY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR ABILITY
YOUR VISIBILITY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR ABILITY
A lot of amazingly talented individuals make a huge mistake and bury their success prospects when they fall in love with their talents and abilities thinking the talent alone will create a spot for them at the top.Yes I know I just made a statement you might not fully agree with….Just take a chill pill. When people see your name or face consistently, they assume you must be more successful and therefore better than the service providers they never get to see. They will say:’If I haven’t heard of her, she can’t be good.’Your visibility affects people’s perception of your competence.
Your visibility also increases your credibility. When people see you and your products and services on the pages of newspapers , on their Tv,and listen to you on radio, it builds trust and creates ‘believability’for your offerings. Those businesses that are highly visible will get the calls. So many great talents have been lost to the claws of ‘invisibility’ some of them ignorantly believe their talent is the automatic ticket to eldorado. They fail to realise that selling yourself is a fulltime job.Consumers are drawn to the names they know.
According to Mary Lawrence,:’In this business you can never wash the dishes and say they are done, you have to keep doing them constantly.A.Y is not the funniest comedian in Nigeria, but that dude is an expert in the game of visibility and self promotion. Same thing applies to the Choc boys, the Mohits crew, Banky w and his boys, Genevieve Nnaji,Funke Akindele, and the list goes on ….A celebrity is someone that is known for his ‘wellknownness’
Visibility gets prospect in the door, ability keeps them with you for many years.Anybody who is serious about the business of talent development needs a publicist.Go make it happen!

TALK ABOUT IT
Talk about sex and everyone goes hush hush, but the danger of not talking about it is far greater than the benefits talking about it generates. In HOW TO AVOID TROUBLED SEXUAL LIFE Aremo Emmanuel takes the reader on the pathway to avoiding a troubled sexual life. From the opening chapter its quite obvious what Aremo wants to achieve. In this book sexual purity is the heart of the matter.Aremo’s passion stems from the dream of advocating for right sexuality in the land.He hungers for a world where the unmarried will say no to premarital sex and the married will flee from extramarital affairs. Aremo is a trained sexual/reproductive health counsellor, public speaker, and publisher, Aremo has been able to empower his audience with the requisite knowledge needed to lead a sexually pure life.
In the brilliantly crafted foreword written by the phenomenal Bisi Adewale(a sought after author in his own right)he says:’ There has never been a generation where sexual perversion is pronounced like ours where unsolicited publicity is given to pornographic materials like books and films. It is noteworthy that a book like this which is carefully written in modern touch with true life examples will no doubt cure the famine of positive information on sex related issues for this generation and generations to come’.
Divided into 24 chapters, and laced with true life example and biblical refrences,in chapter 1 and 2 Aremo addresses the purpose of God for sex.In his words:’The fulfillment of God’s purpose is tied to sexual discipline’. In chapter4 , he takes the reader on a journey to distinguishing between sex and love. Other parts of the book focuses on the importance of parents –child sex education, overcoming sexual temptations, and provides the compass for overcoming a troubled sexual life. At the end of the book, there is a portion for a virginity pledge which serves as a commitment mechanism geared to assist the reader in achieving sexual purity.
Though the book might seem to appeal more to appeal more to Christians but the conversational writing style and the simplicity which he uses to pass his message across will lure the reader to the book, like kids are being lured to the sweetness of chocolate.Aremo addresses sexual purity with tact and coherence weaving his words like a cloth, each color in the right place, in the right measure. The book is a collector’s item and a manual for anyone who desires trouble free sexual life.

D.I.V.A VISIBILITY
D.I.V.A VISIBILITY
In an industry dominated by the male folk, a crop of female artistes in the Nigerian music scene are gaining huge visibility, getting credibility for their hard work, and showing that skirts can also strut the limelight. We present to you three fast rising divas in Nigerian music landscape who are using their immense talents to impact their world and also impact their bank accounts(lol).
OMAWUNMI MEGBELE
In 2007, OMAWUMI auditioned for Idols West Africa and 6 months later, after dazzling her audience with captivating perfomance, became the 1st Runner-Up, Idols West Africa. Since then she has numerous performances on the stage with top local acts like D’Banj, 2face, P-Square and International acts like Chaka Demus and Pliers to her belt, and hit theme songs for corporations like Malta Guinness and MTN plus her new hit single ‘In The Music’.
Omawumi Megbele was 1st Runner up In West African Idols 2007. She Won Best Female Vocal Performance and Next Rated Artist at 2009 Hip Hop World Awards. She is one of the Hottest Young Sistahs in the Scenery….Soulful, amiable and inspiring.According to Chude Jideonwo:'So what exactly makes Omawunmi tick?Well If You ask me , Na Who I Go Ask?With a single of the said title, she reminded Nigerians why she is one of the reiging divas at the moment. It is exactly the reason why upon the news of her single motherhood, the nation simply shrugged, wished her hapiness, and moved on'.Jaguda.com, the online music website says:'There’s no such thing as a brake pad when it comes to Omawumi and her music. She’s one lady that constantly churns out the tunes.'Bottom Belle is the latest in her strings of hits and she collaborates with Flavour the emerging Nigerian Hiplife maestro. We call her a D.I.V.A because she is Diligent.Inspiring,Visible and Amiable.
WAJE IRUOBE
Iruobe Waje came into the limelight after featuring on P-Square's mega hit 'Do me'. Since then she's released various singles, appeared as a finalist on MTV Base's Advance warning and waxing stronger.Without a single album to her credit, she is one of the most visible and immensely talented female acts in the Nigerian music industry.Even Wikipedia calls her:'The lady whose vocal range covers three octaves'. The lady behind the remake of P-Square’s “Omoge Mi” and the female voice in the duo’s 2008 hit track “Do Me”, Banky W "Thief my Kele",M.I "One Naira".She has graced several magazine covers, and was recently appointed as a celebrity judge on STARQUEST.At the 201 Headies, she clinched the Best vocalist award.THE NET NG.COM puts it this way:'Even though we all feel a Waje album is long overdue, anytime she puts out something new, we all want to listen. Why? She’s a good singer! Having worked with hosts of Nigerian acts including Psqaure, M.I, Illbliss, Naeto C, Kel and others, she has steadily worked her way into our hearts with her powerful voice.'
WAJE gives us hope about young Nigerian women taking giant strides in the direction of their dreams. She is 'So inspired'and i simply say whether na one naira whether na one million she is simply great.
TIWA SAVAGE
At the age of 16 Tiwa Savage was destined to sing backup for George Michael. While puffing on her trombone near the back of the orchestra, Savage gazed through the rows of musicians and decided to position herself in the spotlight - singing in the front row.
An instant classic, folks about town in London started to take notice and she was soon sharing a stage with the "Faith" singer. Cementing her fate as an infectious musical force Savage went on to sing backup for Mary J. Blige, Destiny's Child, Chaka Khan, Spice Girl Emma Bunton, Kelly Clarkson, Andreas Bocelli, Sting, 50 Cent, The Black Eyed Peas, Eminem and Robbie Williams. She broke into the industry with her hit single 'Kelekele love' which has become a favourite amongst music buffs. In 2011 she was picked along side M.I and Banky W for the Henessy Artistry Brand ambassadors. She is currently one of the co-host of The Nigerian idols and recently was featured in the remix of Flavour Nabania's 'Oyi'.She has been on the cover of magazines like Genevieve, Exquisite,Complete Fashion.e.t.c.
This piece is not geared towards singing the praises of these divas, but its simply to inspire you the reader to brace up, tie your shoe lace, stand tall, and be all the creator has wired you to be. "I had to make my own living and my own opportunity! But I made it! Don't sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them" – Madam C.J. Walker

5 THINGS TALENTED PEOPLE TO DO MESS UP THEIR CAREERS
5 THINGS TALENTED PEOPLE DO TO MESS UP THEIR CAREERS
Yes you are talented, you are like a diamond in the rough that has not been refined, a treasure chest that hasn’t been opened, a rose that hasn’t been plucked(lol). The good news is that your talent can take you places , and win you top-spots in the minds of people .But on the flip-side, what you do with it can either put your career on success avenue or push you into the leagues of the unknown.
PITFALL 1
THE WRONG ASSOCIATION
The power of your network cannot be underplayed as regards your talent.Comedians like Seyilaw, Elenu,Mc shakara, Emeka Smith, have a mentorship relationship with the phenomenal A.Y(Ayo Makun), which gave their comedy careers a lift. The Banky W-Whizkid relationship has turned whizkid from an unknown talent into a mega star.On the other hand, hanging around talent predators, in the case of Whitney houston and Bobby brown can put your career on the downward trend. So be on the alert, the wrong association can deplete your potentials and capacity .Eagles don’t scratch with chickens.
PITFALL 2
IGNORING THE BUSINESS SIDE OF YOUR TALENT
Treating your talent like a business is the beginning of wisdom. For years I was just having a love affair with my talent without learning the business side to it.Being an amazingly talented make up artiste aint just enough, cos talent alone cannot pay the bills. Jay-Z is worth a reported $450m. He was a co-founder of Rocaware which he sold for $207m in 2007. Every album (and that is over 15) he has released has gone platinum. He has endorsement deals with Chevy, Budweiser, Armadale Vodka, and Hewlett Packard. He has ownership in the New Jersey Nets, Arsenal Football Club, 40/40 nightclubs and Def Jam Records. He was co-interviewed with Warren Buffett. Jay-Z has his fingers just about everywhere and has become the definition of a mogul. He has moved beyond rapping talent to a business mogul. Here in Nigeria, the likes of Donjazzy,Banky W, A.Y, Teju baby face, have converted their talents into business empires. You can do that too.
PITFALL 3
UNDERESTIMATING THE POWER OF PUBLICITY
Just a great publicity can turn an unknown person into a mega celeb. As a Talent development coach a lot of artistes tell me getting publicity is difficult if you are just starting out…(to an extent acceptable).Yes ,publicity will cost you something, but you don ‘t need all the money in the world to start.Eunice Nze in an article shares how Donjazzy has been able to use the internet to publicise the MO -HITS BRAND.According to her: ‘One brand that has used viral marketing to its full advantage in Nigeria is the Mo’hits record boss, Don Jazzy. Jazzy has used it successfully to the benefit of the label. He is known to use the internet to communicate with his fans who in turn respond tremendously. First it was the Enigma contest where upcoming rappers were expected to rap some lyrics on the beat and send it back. The response was overwhelming with over 1,800 entries in the space of one week. The winner of the competition went home with $2,000, 2nd place $1,000 and 3rd place, $500. At the end of the competition, more up and coming acts had the chance to get good exposure both online and offline.
Later, he came up with another competition that served as a crown to his efforts, the Oliver Twist single promo. The song was released without completion and fans were given the opportunity of being their own producer.
Apart from cutting cost on hiring a venue for the competition to take place, he also cut cost on media promotion, production hassles, and much more. He also acquired something like a bank /resource from which video ideas could be conceived. The competition has won an amazing customer patronage, boasting almost 25,000 hits in a few days. Entries came in not only from local fans but also from international fans, a reflection of Jazzy’s acceptance worldwide.’ She noted.Building relationships with bloggers, journalists,On air personalities in your niche can birth the exposure you desire .A terrible thing happens without publicity….nothing!
PITFALL 4
BECOMING TOFFEE NOSED
The fact that you are talented, making headlines, gracing soldout events , doesn’t make you better than anyone else. Its all by the grace of God that you are where you are and who you are.One quality everyone seem to love about Tuface, is his trade mark humility. You need to stoop to conquer.Success can be intoxicating, attributing your achievement to none other than yourself can be likened to digging your grave with your own hands.Be willing to learn so as to rise to the top of your game.
PITFALL 5
GIVING UP TOO SOON
Succeeding in your craft is not a script you play out overnight. You ve got to give your efforts time to birth its dividends.Genevieve Nnaji’s entry into the movie world was a small earning of #2,000 for starring in a movie, but today her movie fee appearances is in the range of millions. In her words:’Only you will tell yourself the limit you can go.Man can predict but only you can make the prediction come to frution ‘.You’ve got to keep recording that music, attending that audition for movie roles, sending in those write ups, don’t ever give up.Persistence made the snail reach the ark.Keep on keeping on.

J.O.H.N...MIGHT JUST BE THE CHANGEMAKER
OLAYINKA JOHN KOLEADE(J.O.H.N)
Phenomenal is what comes to mind when one is to describe J.O.H.N.He is the CEO Of PICK AND PLAY ENTERTAINMENT, and also a graduate of OLABISI
ONABANJO UNIVERSITY.He started music professionally in 2009 and since then has been gaining momentum in his chosen craft. He was featured on Jahbless’ album and also has a couple of singles and a music video directed by 12digits.With witty punchlines and a almost flawless delivery, J.O.H.N is sure set to rule his world.
CHALLENGES
“A major challenge for me is to be appreciated as an up and coming act,and to be loved for what I do.Its not quite easy for fans to accept you”
PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
I want to be a reference point in the music industry, recording bestselling albums in the industry with collaborations from international acts like Jayz, Big sean, Drake….
ADVICE TO UP AND COMING ACTS
“The music industry Is growing daily. No one is restricted to a particular style or pattern as long as listeners love it.With up and coming acts should just do their thing .You’ve got to put in your best in whatever you do”
QUOTE OF THE DAY
It is a brutal absurdity to think you can confine the celebration of love to the physical parameters of a 24 hour time line. Love is timeless, selfless, and ceaseless.
Now, true love will not always be found with brazillian hair and lovely lashes or with 6packs and a porsche....Love is in the market, in the office, on the streets, in the bus.
Love is taking the gift of yourself and investing in the life of another...it doesn't always have to flow from mindless passion but from pure compassion for humanity.
Embrace the dignity of falling in love with the helpless, voiceless and often times friendless...finally, fall in love with Nigeria Again.
I love y'all!-TOCHI EZE, CO -ORDINATOR SELAH INSPIRATIONS

FROM COLLEGE DROP OUT TO CORPORATE SELL OUT
THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE INTERVIEW
FROM COLLEGE DROP OUT TO CORPORATE SELL OUT
According to Ubong Essien:’One of the finest opportunities of life is the privilege to have a second bite at the cherry, to pick up the pieces and start all over, especially where we may have performed unsatisfactorily. This is an amazing gift.’The success secret of champions can be traced to their stories.Steve harris , a management consultant, life strategist, and author of the bestselling book:’From college drop out to corporate sell out’.,shares his story of rising from gale to glory.Getting kicked off the university twice , becoming a two time office assistant and how he overcame the obstacles to associated with the stigma of being a college drop out.
THE STORY
‘From college drop out to corporate sell out is pretty much what I call a mini autobiography of my getting kicked out of school twice, becoming a two time office assistant and how I overcame the obstacles associated with the stigma of being a college drop out, the lessons learned, and all that helped me become a corporate sell out’
DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH
In his words:’I had to deal with low self esteem in addition to the fact that there is a stigma attached to not being a college grad .Since it seemed everyone around me was making progress in their personal pursuits and I felt I was retrogressing.i later learned that I wasn’t competing against anyone but myself.’
LESSONS LEARNT
‘One, you are not in competiton with anyone but yourself. secondly, you need to look inwards to discover what God has hidden In you.In additon, the way to the top is through faithful service and lastly turn your passion into profit.’
THE MOTIVATION TO SUCEED
‘The challebeg has served as a motivation to suceed. As you can tell from the book cover, it’s a split imagefor me.Personally, I think the drop out part of me motivates the sell out.I am driven to prove myself that I am not what my alma mata said that I was.I am not one for giving excuses.I hear a lot of people say that ‘if I had a first class or an M.B.A, I’d have gone further in life’,well meet me, I aint got no class!so if God could do so much with someone who had so little. What’s your excuse?
INSPIRATION BEHIND THE BOOK
Truth be told, I never intended writing this book. I was working on
another (out in 2012) when I had 'writer's block' for months and I was so
stumped; until my editor 'Seun Salami suggested I write my story since I
was so comfortable sharing my life experience with audiences. I'm glad I
listened. Thanks Seun!
HOW THE EXPERIENCE HAS SHAPED MY LIFE
Dropping out of school has been the most defining moment of my life. It
caused me to re-discover God, discover myself, find my purpose and add
value
THE NEW YOU-THE CORPORATE SELL OUT
It's exciting! I'm privileged to be a sought after Life Strategist,
Management Consultant and Motivational Speaker. I'm paid very well to do
what I love and I love what I do.
MY JOB AS A MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT
I have a blast assisting people and organisations achieve success in their
pre-determined endeavours using Consulting, Training and Coaching
interventions to increase their bottom-line and gain competitive leverage
through their people and systems.

WORTH REMEBERING
“Entrepreneurship in Nigeria is tough, therefore you need to get into it for the right reasons. You need to have passion for any business you intend going into , be willing to master the business side of your passion, because talent is never enough.Be willing to learn and serve because service is the prerequisite for stardom”

YOUNGSTER OF THE WEEK... AREMO EMMANUEL
‘THERE IS SO MUCH IGNORANCE AND SILENCE ABOUT SEXUALITY TODAY’- AREMO EMMANUEL,SEXPURE CENTRIC ADVOCATE/ Author, How To Avoid Troubled Sexual Life
WHO IS AREMO EMMANUEL?
My name is Aremo Emmanuel, the President of Right Sexuality Network, Publisher of Right Sexuality Newsletter, a quarterly newsletter. Sexuality talk expert on radio station. Author of the book: How To Avoid Troubled Sexual Life: What You Don’t Know About Sex Will Hurt You. A writer of many articles of which some have been published in the national newspaper. A counselor and speaker on sex, sexuality and fulfilling your purpose in life. Our website: www.purposeinlife.com.ng enjoys page viewers all around the world: Nigeria, Canada, England, Malaysia, India, etc. Many lives have been transformed with lots of testimonies through our operations.
Am a trained sexual health, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS educator by UNICEF, Society for Family Health.
What Led You Into Sex Pure centric Advocacy?
By God’s grace, I have always believed that every man is made for a purpose, to effect positive changes in the world towards making it a better place. This made me to be inquisitive about what God has for me for my generation. Through prayer, reading the word of God, and reading of books helped me discovered Gods purpose for my life.
There is so much silence and ignorance about sexuality today. It’s unfortunate that some Parents and religious organization finds it hard to pass positive sexuality instruction to their people. Most of the information we have in our movies, magazines, musical lyrics/video, book, internet, etc are not encouraging at all. Which is making people; especially young people to develop wrong sexual attitude/lifestyle. Many have died prematurely or are nursing sexually transmitted diseases because of costly sexual mistakes. I did analysis of human sexuality, I discovered that there are lots of negative information that need to be readdressed. The level of sexual immorality in the society is very high. We are seeing geometrical increase in premarital sex, rape, prostitution, adultery, gigolo, incest, child abuse, homosexuality, lesbianism, etc. Something must be done!
Overtime, addressing this societal ill became a burden, a passion and a vision in my heart. Furthermore, when I was in the Higher Institution of Learning, I was the Guardian and Counseling Officer of a Christian fellowship. Sexuality based cases where part of the cases God helped me to handled. God has helped me to give the vision a corporate image by establishing a NGO- Right Sexuality Network. Through which I am fulfilling my purpose on earth.
What Inspired You To Write The Book?
The passion to break the silence and rid people off ignorance led to the writing of the book. People are asking many question about sex and sexuality especially young people. Writing a book like this will help to counter negative sexual information in the society. It is a small book written in simple English language. It is forwarded by Bisi Adewale, a foremost marriage and family counselor in Nigeria.
How Can People Overcome Sexual Immorality?
Sexual immorality is a powerful addiction people finds difficult to let go because; it involves the body, spirit and the soul. It was by it that Samson and David in the Bible had their destinies dented. In our contemporary world, people like: Godwin Opara (Nigeria ex-football star), Tiger Woods, Bill Clinton, Tuface Idibia, etc had their bitter stories to tell. There was a guy that died during his honeymoon because of issues he had with ladies.
The first step to overcoming is never to indulge in it at all , except if you are married. Sexual immorality is like a computer virus. It can corrupt one’s life and destiny. Also to overcome, have the fear of God in your heart. Just as the Bible said the fear of God is to shun evil. Have the right value and goal for life. Avoid pornography, peer pressure, sexually explicit movies, books, magazines, musical lyrics and videos, they will pollute your mind. Beware when you are alone with the opposite sex. Avoid sex based boy friend and girl friend relationship. Parent should also train their wards on the right sexual values and attitude for life. Above all give your life to God. He is the only one that can help one to overcome through His Spirit. My advice for those battling with sexual immorality is to go for counseling.
Rate The Reading Culture In Nigeria.
Nigeria is not a book friendly nation, we hardly read and that is why we are still having some problem that books
loving nations have overcome. Knowledge is treasure and books is one of the medium in which they are preserved.
Solution to our problems sometime are in books.
What impact do you see your book making?
It will help people to be well informed about sexuality, develop right sexual value and attitude to navigate life towards avoiding sexual mistakes that will wreck their destiny. Young people will learn what their peer will never tell them about sex. It’s also good for parenting. It is packed with true life stories of people you can learn from. It is a resource that will put an to sexual struggles, addiction, pre-marital sex, prostitution, pornography, masturbation, homosexuality, lesbianism, adultery, incest, etc in peoples’ life as testimonies are already abounding.
It contains amongst others: Why God created sex, the difference between sex and love, should I start having sex during puberty, she is either a virgin or…, why should I wait, parent-child sexuality education, help! am married but still commit adultery, your body is…, watching romantic and pornographic materials, etc.
Final words
If nothing is done to address sex and sexuality in this generation. In the next century, I bet you people will be walking naked, fathers will be sleeping with their daughters, homosexuality and lesbianism might have taken over the world, brothers will be sleeping with their sisters, rape will be done in broad day light, pornography and prostitution will be a lucrative business like oil business. Morals and laws that checkmate sexual immorality might have been outlawed. The rate of transexuality will be very high. The new god in the world then will be Sex. Its worshipper will be “Sexians”. The world is gradually shifting to that order.
Though the best time to address this issues is long overdue. We have to arise to revive our fallen moral values on sex and sexuality.
